Why do mothers seem to think that once you cannot carry an infant seat, you must buy a convertible?
Why do mom’s all of a sudden want to ditch their infant seats that go up to 32 pounds when the baby is not yet 32 pounds? Can’t you just leave the seat in the car like you would with a convertible to get the use out of it?
Yes you can, i used the Graco SafeSeat till my daughter was 10 months old. It goes up to 30 lbs, and she still fit in it BUT i needed a convertable car seat eventually, so i ended up buying one when it was on sale. Turned out she was more comfy in the convertable car seat because it was wider and she wasn’t so squished. She still fits in her infant carrier now at 14 months (both height and weight), but we don’t ever use it. I stopped carrying the seat around when she was about 6 months old, it was just way to heave, so it stayed in the car all the time. Some people don’t have infant car seats that go up to 30 or 32 lbs, some only go up to 20 or 22 lbs, so the baby grows out of them pretty quick.
EDIT: Just because the child’s feet touch the seat doesn’t mean they outgrew the seat. Feet touching the seat and belt knees is still safe as long as they are still within the height requirements.
